UPDATE – 25/03: A Luciana Betenson do Rosmarino & Prezzemolo além de participar da rifa, ela quis doar um livro para também ser sorteado aqui. O livro é o “The Bread Book: The Definitive Guide to Making Bread By Hand or Machine“. Então agora serão 2 livro sorteados. Ele será o “segundo lugar” da rifa. É a primeira vez que abro uma campanha deste tipo aqui no site. Decidi fazer uma rifa virtual para ajudar a Gabi, conhecida na comunidade virtual como @gabinacozinha no twitter e autora dos blogs “A sustentável leveza de ser” e “A insustentável leveza de ser“.

Conheci a Gabi através de um amigo secreto virtual entre food bloggers que fizemos no Natal de 2009. Eu fui a amiga secreta dela e foi assim que fiquei sabendo de sua história.

Por que ajudar a Gabi?

Após tê-la tirado no sorteio do amigo secreto, fui ler para saber mais sobre minha mais nova amiga e foi assim que fiquei sabendo que ela, com menos de 30 anos de idade, lutava contra um câncer pela segunda vez. O primeiro havia sido um câncer de mama e agora uma metástese na coluna.

Recentemente, no meio de seu tratamento, ela perdeu o pai, que não bastasse a dor da perda, era quem financiava o tratamento contra a doença.

Se você a acompanhar no twitter ou em seus blogs verá que ela é uma pessoa super positiva e que apesar da barra que enfrenta não se entrega e luta com todas as suas forças contra a doença.

Como a comunidade está ajudando?

Ela não pediu ajuda, mas a comunidade se uniu e vem tentando ajudá-la. Ela também não é orgulhosa e aceitou humildemente a ajuda que estamos oferecendo.

O Vitor Hugo do Prato Fundo teve uma iniciativa muito bacana que foi a de lançar o “Operação Gabi: Leilão“, um leilão virtual onde os lances finais do leilão foram doados para ela. O Leilão está finalizado foi um sucesso. Os pêmios foram doados por food-bloggers, incluindo o próprio Vitor.

Uma outra iniciativa mais recente, também um leilão, está famosa. O jogador John Terry do Chelsea doou sua chuteira para ser leiloada para a Gabi. Está noticiado na grande imprensa, veja:

Como você pode ajudar?

Se você quer ajudar, mas não pode dar um lance num leilão, você pode participar desta rifa virtual aqui no Entre Panelas. Para ajudar é só comprar um ou mais números da rifa. Veja mais abaixo como comprar um número em “Pagamento – Como comprar um número?”. No final, todo o dinheiro arrecadado com a compra das rifas será doado para a Gabi.

A idéia é que cada um contribua com quantos tijolos puder e no final teremos um grande muro construído.

• O prêmio da rifa

O prêmio da rifa será o livro “Dutch Cooking Today” que contém receitas de pratos típicos da culinária holandesa. O livro está em inglês.

Assim você pode ajudar a Gabi e ainda concorrer ao livro no sorteio.

• A rifa:

A idéia é que cada um que quiser contribuir pode comprar um ou mais “números” de rifa e no final eu farei um sorteio e enviarei o livro pelo correio para o sorteado. As despesas de envio serão por minha conta. Quem comprar mais números, terá mais chances no sorteio, seu nome entrará quantas vezes o número de rifas que tiver sido comprado. Se você comprar um número, seu nome entra uma vez no sorteio, se comprar dois, terá dois papeizinhos com seu nome e assim por diante.

Valor de cada rifa: R$ 10,00 (dez reais)

• Pagamento – Como comprar um “número” ?

O pagamento pode ser feito via PayPal, que é um método eficiente e seguro. Para isso:

1. Clique no botão do PayPal “Pagar Agora” que aparece logo mais abaixo para abrir a página de pagamento do PayPal
2. Selecione quantas rifas deseja comprar
3. O valor será calculado automaticamente
4. Efetue o pagamento com seu cartão de crédito

Sorteio

A rifa vai até o dia 26 de março de 2010 à meia noite do Brasil. O sorteio eu farei manualmente no dia seguinte, 27 de março.

No próprio Paypal eu conseguirei ver os nomes dos doadores e quantas rifas foram compradas. De qualquer maneira, se preferir, deixe um comentário após comprar a rifa.

Farei o sorteio manualmente: Escreverei os nomes em papeis, dobrarei-os e sortearei um. Quem comprar mais rifas, terá mais papeizinhos com seus nomes.

O endereço para entrega do livro deve ser um endereço no Brasil.

Help Gabi: Virtual Raffle – Prize: Dutch culinary cookbook

UPDATE – 25/03: Luciana Betenson from Rosmarino & Prezzemolo decided to donate one extra book for the raffle. The book is “The Bread Book: The Definitive Guide to Making Bread By Hand or Machine“. So now I will pick up 2 names from the name’s list. This cook book will be like the “second place” from the raffle. The first name will win the “Dutch Cooking Today” and the second name will win “The Bread Book”. The book will be shipped by Luciana who will also pay the expenses. She will send the book straight away to the winner. Hey, people who have bought more then one spot can win 2 books!

This is the first time I am doing a campaign like this here at the blog. I decided to do a virtual raffle [1] to help Gabi, a Brazilian woman who is known in the virtual community of twitter as @gabinacozinha and is the author of the food blogs “A sustentável leveza de ser” and “A insustentável leveza de ser“, both in Portuguese.

I met Gabi in December, 2009, through a “Secret Santa” that was done between some food bloggers. I was her “secret friend” and it was at that time that I knew her story.

Why help Gabi?

During the Secret Santa, I started to search for more information about Gabi to try to buy a nice gift to her and it was reading about her that I found out that she is not 30 years old yet and is fighting against a cancer for the second time in her life. The first was a breast cancer and now a metastase in her column.

Recently, in the middle of her treatment, her father died. Not only she had to cope with the pain of the loss, but she had another challenge: her father was the person who was paying for her treatment.

If you follow her on twitter or read her blog, you will see that she is a very positive person who is fighting with all her forces against the desease and she is not someone who surrenders.

How the community is helping?

She didn’t ask for help, but the community is helping her and she humbly accepted the help.

Vitor Hugo, the foodblog author from Prato Fundo made an auction, “Operação Gabi: Leilão” where all the money was donate to Gabi. The prizes were donate by Vitor and other food bloggers.

Another auction became famous in Brazil. The footbal player John Terry, from the English team Chelsea, donated his football boots for the cause, and an auction is being held. The money will be donated to Gabi. It is on the news in Brazil:

How can you help?

If you would like to help, but cannot afford a participation in an auction, you can participate on this raffle, here at Entre Panelas.

To help you can buy one or more spots in a list. Then, one name will be drawn at random and given a copy of the cookbook about Dutch cuisine, “Dutch Cooking Today” (in English).

You can see how to buy a spot in the section bellow called “Payment – How to buy a spot”. At the end, all money collected (minus the PayPal fee) will be donated to Gabi.

The idea is that each person can contribute with a few bricks and at the end, we can build a huge wall.

The raffle’s prize

The prize will be the cookbook “Dutch Cooking Today” which contains typical dishes from Dutch cuisine. The book is in English.
This way, you can help Gabi and have a chance to win the book.

The raffle:

To help Gabi you can buy one or more spots and on March 27th I will draw one name at random and I will send the book to this person by mail. The shipping costs of the book will be paid by me.

You will get your name entered according to the amount of spots you buy. If you buy 2 spots, your name will enter twice and you have more chances to win. So, the more you buy, the more chances you have.

Each spots costs R$ 10,00 (approximatelly U$ 5,50)

The Draw

This raffle ends on 26th of March at midnight, Brazilian time (GMT -3). The draw will be made manually (names in papers) by me on the day after, 27th of March. Then, the results will be published here.
I will check the names at the PayPal page and use the names on the draw. At PayPal I can see how many spots you have bought. Anyway, feel free to leave a comment here.
